The Revolutionary War commenced on 4/19/1775 at Lexington and Concord, MA and effectively ended with the surrender of the British by General Cornwallis at Yorktown, VA on 10/19/1781. During the war 6,800 Americans were killed in action and another 17,000 died due to disease and as POWs. The Battle of Long Island was the largest with 40,000 soldiers. Approximately 231,000 men served in the Continental Army. Happy 7/4/2017!
