It took just 24 days for the Dow Jones Industrial Average to go from 20000 to 21000. That tied the record for the fastest 1000-point rise set on 5/3/99 when the DJIA surpassed 11000. That was a rise of 10%, this time the rise was just 5%. The longest wait for the DJIA to rise 1000 points; 3,573 days when on 1/8/87 the DJIA bested 2000.
