The Friday File: The NBA LA Lakers recently sold for $10 billion. While a fortune, in time it’ll probably be considered a bargain. A recently constructed investment index of NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL teams shows that owners of clubs in those leagues have, since 1960, averaged a return of 13.1%, versus 10.4% for the S&P 500, a staggering difference. With sports betting now legal, the returns will improve further.
