The Evergreen File: Last year, Christmas tree prices peaked on 11/28 at $142, and then steadily slid to under $58 on Christmas eve. This suggests buying late is the best strategy. But, if you calculate the cost of each “house tree day” it’s $4.18/day if bought on 11/28 and discarded on 1/1, but $8.28/day if bought Christmas eve. There is, of course, the plastic option.
