electric car_2The US government offers tax credits to promote “good” behavior such as buying an electric car or weatherizing a home. Regrettably, these plans are regressive. The top 20% of earners receive 90% of electric car credits and 60% of weatherization credits. Alternatively, impose a tax on carbon emissions that costs tax payers as much as the current schemes. For the same cost, more pollution will be eliminated and more equitably.
