Happy Hanukkah

hanukah As Chanukka is a transliteration from Hebrew, there’s no correct way to spell it. That is you can begin the word with a “H” or a “Ch”, the second consonant can be an “n” or “nn”, the third consonant can be a “k” or a “kk”, and the word either ends with “ah” or “a”. This gives us sixteen possibilities. Big Data tells us the most popular spelling is Hanukkah!

    Dear Elliot,

Thank you for your daily blog on the economy. In an era of post truth and fake news it is refreshing to read your daily blog. I depend on it to counter the patter of the commentaries and propagandists who want to enrage or bully the paranoid and the clueless.

I am not looking forward to the next 4 years. At 70 years old I have witnessed the Vietnam War up close, watched Nixon lie to his resignation, the false investment boom of the Reagan Bush I era result in the crash and the rise of the RTC and the mindless fiscal policies of Bush II almost devastate the world’s economy.

My greatest fear is Trump’s mouth leaving his brain far behind, provoking belligerent dictators to attack just to show him up. While at the same time his appointed Secretaries dismantle the institutions of their responsibility.

Enjoy these next 4 weeks. Happy Hanukkah to you.

    John Jones
